A Diverse Economy & Business Potential
Pieksämäki also has a diverse economic structure and actively invests in new businesses and entrepreneurship. Recent investments in clean energy, such as the Niinimäki and Sarvikangas wind power projects, support sustainable development and enhance the region’s attractiveness. These projects could unlock up to a billion euros in investment potential, building a future focused on clean energy transition.
Given the current global landscape, the defense industry is also expanding, and Pieksämäki-based companies have much to offer in this sector. The local business community is proactive, with initiatives like the Savo Defence network working to seize emerging opportunities.

Compared to other towns of similar size, Pieksämäki stands out for its diverse recreational options. After all, where else can you find multiple active summer theater groups and three different motor racing tracks?
